Today, in Haiti, Mother's Day is celebrated.
I found out (on FB-thanks, Susan) that Haitians wear a red flower to honor their mother
if she is living and either purple or white to honor a mother that has
passed. What a special way you honor moms! Love the tradition.
I am beginning to realize spring will be a busy season full of celebrations. Some Haitian Holidays and my family has a lot of spring birthdays as well.
This blog is being written for my daughter, Kimberlie. It tells our international adoption journey. Soon, sweet, you will be HOME!

This Song is for Baby Cakes-It's Called HOME (Get It?? )
(I know cheesy, right!!!)
Really, I just wanted to post this video of Phillip Phillips winning American Idol last night !!!
But, really, if you listen to the words, it does (loosely) fit on adoption blog....at the end of the song, Phil goes to hug his family (SNIFF, SNIFF)...it gives me chills every time. Gets me thinking of what it will be like when I an united with Baby Cakes (I know, I am stretching)
Here is a link to the video- I do love him so!!!!!
Still trying to decide whether or not to bring the band to the airport for the Homecoming =) You have to watch the video to understand the comment....

Adoption Update....
First of all, I want to thank everyone who continues to inquire about my adoption... I can't believe how supported I have felt through this L....O....N.....G journey! I even feel supported way up in Pine River, MN. =) Also, thanks for your prayers, I can honestly say, I can feel them!!!
Second of all, I think I need lesson in counting. GLA continues to tell me that I will need to wait at least 6 months before I will get a referral for an infant girl. My dossier got to Haiti Feb 1st, so I have been telling everyone July 1st is 6 months, a.... no it's not....... August 1st will be 6 months. More time to wait!! Feel free to check out my timeline- I LOVE adding dates to it!
Third of all, I got some good news from GLA this last week, I found out I am 1 of 13 families waiting for a referral at GLA... I feel good about that number =) I was thinking there would be more waiting families! I am going with LUCKY # 13 =)
Thanks again for reading !

Happy Flag Day Dis-huit Mai” (Eighteen May)
Today, May 18th, in Haiti, Haitians young and old are celebrating Flag Day.
This is the song that is often sung today: ( I can't read Creole yet, but we will try to sing it each year with Babycakes!)
Mon drapeau po po
Mon joli petit drapeau
C’est Dessalines qui l’a créé
mon joli petit drapeau
C’est Catherine Flon qui l’a cousu
Mon joli petit drapeau!
